Terry Brooks (natural January 8, 1944) is a writer of fantasy fiction.

Terry Brooks principally writes high fantasy, and has too written many moving-picture show novelisation.

He is an alumna of Hamilton College, obtaining his B.A. inside English Literature inside 1966. He late found the J.D. from either Washington and Lee University. Prior to becoming an author he was a practicing attorney.

His foremost novel, The Sword of Shannara, was an immediate best seller, however occasionally critics accused Brooks of with plagiarized the plot from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings - something that he strenuously denies. the primary similarity is that these are a heroic fantasy featuring various races who form an alliance against a dark lord and set retired in the quest to defeat him.
